Fire Extinguishers

Maintenance & Repair

 

General Maintenance

Fire extinguishers are maintained by Physical Plant and are coded by location. Fire extinguishers must not be moved from their permanent locations, set on the floor or have accessibility obstructed. Any discharged extinguisher should be reported immediately to the Work Control Center (ext. 4-4754) or e-mail.

 

Special Equipment Systems

Fire extinguishing systems for special departmental equipment, such as Halon gas systems used in computer areas, are maintained either by the department or by Physical Plant through a funded Service Request. Individual departments are responsible for the purchase of new extinguishers when new equipment is purchased which requires special fire protection.
